The distances from the parking lot to the campsites: Site 1 is the closest, and is 20 yards from the parking lot. Site 9 is the furthest at 500 yards.
Alcoholic beverages, firearms (including fireworks) and other weapons are prohibited.
Pets are allowed except in park buildings and swim areas, but they must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
A special activity permit is required for special events like weddings, bike events, festivals, etc. Please contact the park office for further information.
Unlicensed vehicles and motorcycles, golf carts, ATV's and mini-bikes are prohibited with the exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person. All vehicles are prohibited from walkways, trails and other areas not designated for such purposes.

Mount Mitchell State Park's gate hours are: November to February 7 am - 6 pm. March to April 7 am - 8 pm. May to August 7 am - 10 pm. September to October 7 am - 9 pm.
Gates lock at specific hours posted upon entering the park throughout the year.
North Carolina state park rules and regulations are posted in each park and enforced by rangers. Violating these rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of permit.
State vehicle and traffic laws are enforced, and the speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.
Hike at your own risk. Search-and-rescue crews and helicopter support may be unable to reach hiking or backcountry camping parties in bad weather. Do not rely on GPS, cell-phone, or rescue beacon devices to prevent/survive emergencies.
