The park gate closes and is locked at night. Vehicle access in or out is not permitted during closed hours. Emergency numbers for after-hours response are posted above the marina phone in the breezeway. Gate closing hours change with the seasons.

Park hours are:
- December & January: 7 AM - 6 PM
- November & February: 7 AM - 7 PM
- March, April & October: 7 AM - 9 PM
- May thru September: 7 AM - 10 PM
- Quiet hours are 11 PM to 7 AM.
- Check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out time is 1:00 PM. Check-in is at the Marina Store.
- Bring your own linens and towels.
- Cabins do not have water or bathrooms. Visitors must bring own water or utilize potable campground spigots. Two (2) campground bathhouses are centrally located within each campground loop.
- Vehicles must be parked in the cabin parking spaces. Maximum 2 vehicles per cabins. Extra vehicles will be issued a parking permit and will utilize additional parkking at the Visitor Center.
- All food and food containers should be locked inside the cabin or vehicle and not left outside when unattended.
- Alcoholic beverages, fireworks, and weapons are prohibited. Firearms are prohibited, unless in possession of a valid Concealed Carry Permit (CCP).
- Assisting animals are only allowed in ADA accessible cabin. All other animals are prohibited in cabins and the cabin vicinity.
- Cutting or damaging live trees, shrubs and other plants is prohibited.
- Unlicensed vehicles, motorcycles, golf carts, ATV's and minibikes are prohibited w/ exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person.
- Coin-operated laundry is available at the marina.
One cabin (#42 - Centennial Cabin) is ADA Accessible. Cabin dimensions are 16' 7" x 14'; w/ porch 6' x 14'. No pets other than assisting animals allowed. No smoking allowed. Distances: to Visitor Center 0.5 miles, to marina & boat launch 0.75 miles. Cabin has air conditioning, electric heat, screens on doors / windows. Cabin has no running water or bathing facility. Total of two rooms. Cabin sleeps six (6) in total of five beds: 2 - twin bunk bed sets (sleeps 4) and a double (sleeps 2). Electrical service 15 amps w/ 11 electrical outlets. Picnic table, fire ring and a fixed, pedestal charcoal grill are provided.
Closed for Camping on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
There is a 2-night minimum stay for cabins.
Building fires in undesignated areas is prohibited. All fires must be contained in fire pits or charcoal grills. Collecting firewood in the park is prohibited. You may bring your own firewood or purchase it per bundle, on-site from marina store.
Early check-in is permissible if cabin was not occupied on previous night.
North Carolina State Park rules and regulations are posted and enforced by rangers. Violation of rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of camping permit.
North Carolina State Parks are wildlife sanctuaries; no hunting is allowed and collecting plants, minerals and artifacts is prohibited. State fishing regulations are enforced. Licenses are available locally for purchase on the island.
