5. Fenton Lake State Park, New Mexico

Fenton Lake State Park is open year-round and available for plenty of activities in this stunning mountain area with lovely pine forests. Reservations can be made six months in advance so you can make sure you have the best campsite when you arrive. Bring your canoe so you can get out on the lake.
