1. Green River Lake State Park, Kentucky
A recreational paradise in south-central Kentucky, Green River Lake State Park attracts outdoor lovers from the greater area. The park boasts a large lake for a variety of water sports and a mini-golf course. 2. Mueller State Park, Colorado
With over forty miles of scenic multi-use trails, Mueller State Park is a mountain biker’s dream, whether on National Bike Travel Weekend or any time of year. Explore the large park on the trails to witness its rare mountainous beauty, with acres of aspen and conifer forests and an abundance of wildlife such as black bear, elk, deer, fox, coyotes, and bobcats. There are 132 campsites in seven loops, including 110 electrical sites accommodating motor homes, trailers, and tents. There are also nine cabins available.
3. South Shore Park, Texas
With miles of biking trails, South Shore Park is a great option for bikers looking for an adventure just outside of Austin. South Shore Park is connected to nearby North Shore Park – on the other side of the lake – by a scenic 5-mile one-way trail. Other trails available in the park, totaling an additional 9 miles, can be added on for a nice partial day ride. You can also enjoy some great fishing at Lake Bastrop, known for its prized largemouth bass. Or maybe you want a round of mini-golf or pedal carts for the day. Stay overnight at one of 40 campsites, or in one of 16 cabins.
