The national recognition comes under the leadership of Director Ray Bivens, with several significant accomplishments including sustained growth in camping and cabin stays, volunteer hours, and overall park attendance.

Explore and Zip around at Lums Pond State Park
Surrounding Delaware’s largest freshwater pond, Lums Pond State Park offers a variety of recreational activities. Explore the forest on a hike with 17 miles of trails, or soar through the air with the Go Ape Treetop Course. At the park’s nature center, visitors see live animal exhibits including a 500-gallon freshwater aquarium with fish native to the pond. The newly renovated campground offers tent and RV campsites with three-point hookups (water, electric, and sewer), as well as a yurt.
Witness the Baldcypress Trees and Seasons at Trap Pond State Park
Trap Pond State Park is a different experience every season. Witness the beauty of the pond year-round as you enjoy fall foliage, fresh winter snowfall, spring frog calls, or summer nesting songbirds. Hiking, biking, and horse trails provide plenty of ways to explore the park, while boaters, kayakers and anglers love the opportunities to explore the pond and fish for crappie, catfish, and pickerel. The campground features lots of tent and RV sites along with eight cabins and two yurts for a variety of woodland stays.
Splash and Play at Killens Pond State Park
A visit to Killens Pond provides the perfect year-round retreat. The park features hiking and biking trails, game courts, 18-hole disc golf course, Water Park with five slides and baby pool, and the pond provides great fishing for largemouth bass, catfish, perch and more! The wooded campground offers electric and water hookups, accommodating both tents and RVs, as well as a primitive walk-in camping loop for tents only. Plus, you can stay in a little extra comfort at one of the 10 cabins or deluxe Pond View Cottage with added amenities and outstanding views.
Spend the Day at White Clay Creek State Park
Named for the clay that was once mined in the area, White Clay Creek State Park’s natural vistas, woodlands, and creek with its many small tributaries span piedmont ridges and stream valleys along Delaware’s northern edge. The park is a perfect day trip for year-round fishing including stocked rainbow and brown trout. More than 37 miles of trails welcome hikers, bikers, and runners on the most diverse trail system in Delaware.
