10 Campfire Songs for your Next Camping Trip

Campfire Songs to Enjoy

Some things are true traditions on camping trips, like roasting s’mores, telling spooky stories, and singing campfire songs. Singing songs has been a wonderful way for families to spend time together and share fun around a campfire. Adults alone enjoy it as well, after the little ones have turned in for the evening.  If you’re not familiar with the lyrics, printing them out before you leave will be an easy way to have them on hand.  A Google search of the song title + lyrics should do the trick.

Check out 10 camping songs below that your family will love to sing around the campfire. Most of these songs you’ll know from earlier days. This is a great opportunity to teach your kids! Sing them all, one after the other well into the night.  Here is a list of favorites:

  • On Top of Spaghetti – Sung to the tune of On Top of Old Smoky, this song is fun for the little ones as they learn what happens when a meatball falls on the floor.

  • Ain’t No Bugs On Me – When camping, everyone deals with bugs. Here is a tribute song to that challenge.

  • Ring of Fire – Just about anybody knows the words to this song. Johnny Cash wrote and sang it in 1963 and people have been singing it ever since.

  • Home On the Range – Here is a classic that tells an old West story and one that every young one should learn. Take this opportunity to get your kids belting out this popular country song.

  • Five Little Speckled Frogs – Your kids will learn math as they sing about these frogs that leap off their log into the water.

  • The Bear Went Over the Mountain – Little campers will enjoy this song as there is a lot of repetition and they can act out the story if they so please.

  • The Wheels on The Bus Go Round and Round – This is a song your school kids will know, classic in many ways all across the country.

  • Camp Granada – This song title is just another one for Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah by Allan Sherman. He wrote this comedy song in 1963 and it was a huge hit. Ideal for a campfire song.

  • She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain – First sung in the 1920s, this song has a tendency to stay stuck in your head. The kids can easily follow the lyrics and before you know it, they’ll be dancing around the campfire.

  • B-I-N-G-O – Be sure to clap along with this family-friendly song. Sitting around the fire while camping out has never been better with these favorites to sing.
